BASKETBALL – Twenty-four teams have signed up for the inaugural edition of the Bahrain 3x3 Summer Tour 2025.
This was announced yesterday by the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA), who have officially closed registration for the competition.
The participating squads represent national clubs, commercial institutions, universities, and teams formed by individuals.
Action is scheduled to commence on Saturday at Zain Bahrain Basketball Arena in Um Al Hassam and will continue until August 1.
The Bahrain 3x3 Summer Tour is part of a sports agenda aimed at promoting basketball during the summer and providing a competitive platform for the game’s enthusiasts in a dynamic format, played on a half-court with one hoop.
This championship represents a key initiative by the BBA to expand the participation base and establish Bahrain’s presence on the international 3x3 circuit, sanctioned by the International Basketball Federation (Fiba). Notably, this edition marks the launch of what will become an annual event.
The 24 teams will compete to reach the final qualifying round, known as a Quest event, where the winner will earn a spot in one of the prestigious tournaments on the 2025 Fiba 3x3 World Tour.
This international dimension offers local players valuable exposure to world-class competition.
The total prize pool for the championship amounts to $6,000, distributed among the top-performing teams, raising the level of competition and enthusiasm amongst participants, whose backgrounds range from professional athletes to amateurs.
The 3x3 basketball format has been gaining increasing popularity regionally and internationally, especially after its inclusion in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The BBA hopes that this championship will attract more fans and open broader opportunities for Bahraini talents on the international stage.
