The Sultanate of Oman has received the “Commitment to Health Capacity Award” presented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Haj and Umrah, during the annual closing ceremony of Haj Season 1446 AH. The ceremony aimed to honour outstanding Haj Affairs Offices and non-profit organisations engaged in serving the pilgrims.
The award was presented in recognition of the efforts made by the Omani Haj Mission in providing high-level preparedness and quality health services to pilgrims from the Sultanate of Oman.
Every year the Omani Haj Mission is accompanied by a medical team from the Ministry of Health. The medical team comprises specialised health personnel, including doctors, nurses and pharmacists. The clinic set up by Omani team operates in coordination with counterparts in Saudi Arabia.
During the ceremony, Dr. Tawfiq Fawzan Al Rabiah, Minister of Haj and Umrah of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, announced the 1447 AH Haj Season’s Preliminary Arrangements Document that was delivered to Haj affairs offices. The step, aimed to raise the level of preparedness for the next season of pilgrimage, deals with contracts and other arrangements like booking, establishing sites and integrating the service system.
In his speech, Dr. Tawfiq credited the success of the 1446 AH Haj Season to the combined efforts of government departments, civil society institutions and Haj affairs offices.
