An Israeli official said that Israel “will not co-operate” with the visit of Arab foreign ministers to the occupied West Bank.
The announcement of the blocked visit came a day after Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant declared on Friday that Israel would build “the Israeli Jewish state” in the West Bank.
On Thursday, the Israeli government announced the establishment of 22 new settlements in the occupied territories.
Saudi Arabia and France are set to co-host a joint international conference at the United Nations headquarters in New York on June 18 to push forward what is known as the two-state solution, after nearly 150 countries have recognised Palestine.
A diplomat in Paris familiar with the preparations for the conference said it is expected to pave the way for more countries to recognise the Palestinian state.
In 2024, Ireland, Norway, Spain, and Slovenia took this step.
