An unnamed Saudi official on Monday denied media reports which claimed that the kingdom was planning to lift its ban on alcohol, according to Reuters.
“These claims lack any official confirmation from relevant authorities and do not reflect existing policies or regulations in Saudi Arabia,” added informed Saudi sources.
The sources also told Arab News that the kingdom, under its ambitious vision to develop the tourism sector, remained committed to offering a unique and culturally immersive experience.
An industry report last week claimed that starting next year Saudi authorities planned to allow alcohol sales in tourist settings as the kingdom prepares to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
It did not give a source for the information.
