In a humanitarian gesture, a Jordanian father from Al Karak governorate in Jordan pardoned a young woman who caused the death of his 21-year-old son in an unfortunate hit-and-run accident.
Social media users and news websites shared the incident, which reflects the values of tolerance and magnanimity in Jordanian society.
The grieving father went directly to the security centre to demand the girl's release, expressing his refusal to imprison her with a touching phrase: “The daughters of Al Karak are our daughters; they don't stay in prison.”
The father emphasised that forgiveness and reconciliation were the only options, and all tribal and legal rights had already been waived for the girl.
The father's stance sparked widespread admiration and appreciation, with a video of him saying: “God gave me and took away from me,” he said, emphasising that the girl is his daughter.
According to media outlets, a tribal reconciliation ceremony took place between the Al Habashneh clan, to which the young man belongs, and the Al Maaytah clan, to which the girl belongs.
