MOTORSPORT – BAHRAINI-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport placed in the middle of the timesheet in class yesterday in the final two practice sessions of the 2024-25 Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS).
The 2 Seas crew of American Anthony McIntosh, Canadian Parker Thompson, and Briton Ben Barnicoat were classified 16th and 15th in the GT class in their #96 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
The two practices were part of the series’ season-ending weekend, being held at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, the UAE.
2 Seas is co-owned by Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The ALMS is the continent’s premier endurance racing championship, and it is run by the organisers of the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Two four-hour races will be held at Yas Marina today and tomorrow, which are the final of this campaign.
2 Seas posted a best lap time of one minute 53.912 seconds on the last of 43 laps of running in the first practice yesterday in the late afternoon, and then followed it up with a quickest time of 1:53.940 while completing 39 laps of work under lights.
Qualifying will take place today at 9.50am, while the weekend’s first race will flag off at 2pm. Tomorrow, the second race will begin at 3.30pm. All times are Bahrain.
Teams competing in the ALMS are not only gunning for championship glory, but also for invitations to race in Le Mans later this year – one of the biggest and most prestigious events in all of motorsport. The champions of both the LMP2 and GT classes will be awarded invites to be a part of the iconic event in France, which is a part of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship.
