Building a healthy future together
Does Bahrain need to focus more on physical education in schools to tackle the global obesity among children?
Absolutely. Obesity levels are rising throughout the world with Bahrain being among the leaders, not a list that we want to be topping! Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Khalid have done an amazing job highlighting the importance of physical activity by bringing numerous world-class sporting events to the island. These events are great motivators for children who may aspire to be great athletes. But to really benefit the health of the nation the scope of these initiatives should be expanded to include enhanced education of physical and mental well-being in schools where no child can pass under the radar. That being said, this must be coupled with education of what real food is as processed food is the number one reason for the obesity crisis.

Absolutely. Builds confidence, character, great for your health and addresses the obesity issue. It’s not the only thing as they need to incorporate education on eating real food and the government needs to make it more accessible and affordable.
@traceyashall
Yes. More physical education needed.

Bahrain really needs to boost physical education in schools to tackle childhood obesity! After all, teaching kids to move is just as important as teaching them math, because who wants to calculate calories instead of running after a soccer ball? Let’s get them active and healthy! “A little progress each day adds up to big results.” Let’s build a healthier future together!

All food and drinks especially juices, iced coffee, etc sold need to come with their calories intake value on the menu. Many of the juices are sweetened with sugar syrup that makes single drink excessive of one’s daily health allowance. Encourage all restaurants and food trucks to offer healthy food which is a certain per cent of their menu.
@angeli_de
Definitely should emphasise on physical activity/sports with importance on performance and not just any outdoor play for a few minutes.
@ismailbinoli
Stop normalising sugar and junk food in schools.
@mohamed–nass88
Yes, they should! Everyone has potential in them and it cannot be wasted.
@smdwitluv
Call to stop double ID checks on causeway
This will work if the GCC follows the Schengen model where you can freely cross borders within the region. The problem with this is that KSA, for instance, prohibits certain non-Islamic articles, which needs to be checked. Customs checkpoints need to be retained for entering KSA, but the passports/ID parts (going in and out) should be eliminated or automated.
@drops.of.reyn
While checking IDs there should be a parallel team doing Customs. The insurance/traffic should be automated using nameplate recognition, thus eliminating redundancy.
@farhanr80
Cannot be because you are exiting one country and entering another with different laws.
@muhammad.farooque
This suggestion has been raised several times and officials have been talking about implementing it.
