Davos: Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held discussions with Aidaroos Al Zubaidi, Deputy Head of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council and President of the Southern Transitional Council, on the sidelines of the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.
The meeting focused on collaborative efforts to achieve a political solution in Yemen, aimed at restoring stability, promoting development, and ensuring prosperity for the Yemeni people.
Key topics included the latest developments in Yemen, ongoing peace efforts led by Saudi Arabia and Oman, and the importance of supporting these initiatives.
Albudaiwi reaffirmed the GCC’s steadfast commitment to assisting Yemen in restoring security and stability and advancing sustainable development. He also reiterated the GCC’s support for the Presidential Leadership Council’s efforts to enhance peace and stability in the country.
He emphasised the GCC’s dedication to supporting international and regional efforts, including those led by the United Nations, to achieve a comprehensive political resolution to the Yemeni crisis. This solution is rooted in the Gulf Initiative and its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
