Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) is getting all geared up to host the second edition of the ‘RoyalTea’ festival, which is held in co-operation and partnership with the Supreme Council for Women (SCW).
It will be taking place on Friday as part of the latest meeting of the 2024-25 horseracing season.
The RoyalTea festival underscores the resounding success of its inaugural season, which aims to enhance the role of Bahraini women and their participation in various fields, including equestrian sports and horseracing. This sport is deeply rooted in the kingdom’s history and heritage, and it holds significant cultural importance and garners widespread enthusiasm across Bahraini society
The main purpose of the RoyalTea festival is to create the ideal conditions to spread the culture of equestrianism and horseracing, and highlight its importance in Bahraini society, which would further create an attractive environment that encourages women to practise their favourite hobby in the field of horseracing.
The festival will also include accompanying activations that provide women with a unique experience of attending, following, and enjoying the races of the day organised by the REHC and sponsored by Bahrain Jewellery Centre, Annoushka Jewellery, and Empire Limo.
The SCW plays a prominent role in supporting the development and progress of Bahrain, which enhances the status of Bahraini women and their participation in all fields, including enhancing the partnership with the REHC.
This co-operation has an effective impact on achieving community partnership through equestrian sports and the horseracing sector, which enjoys wide popularity among all parts of the Bahraini society.
For its part, the REHC pays attention and is keen to achieve joint cooperation with the SCW in various aspects related to women, which contributes to achieving common goals, including implementation of the principle of gender balance and equal opportunities at the REHC.
The club actively encourages Bahraini girls to pursue careers as jockeys through training programmes at the Bahrain Jockey Academy.
The success of apprentice jockey Dhay Al Saadon, who completed the academy’s programme and now competes in races, demonstrates the club’s dedication to diversifying the field of horseracing practitioners.
