Brazilian kite surfer Bruno Lobo's heroic act has gone viral on social media after saving a woman who appeared to be drowning off the coast of São Luís in Brazil Friday afternoon.
Lobo captured the incident on his new camera, which he was testing out in the water. The footage shows him kitesurfing past a woman who seems to be struggling to keep her head above the water.

On Sunday, Mr Lobo shared the video on his Instagram account, writing:
“The day that God used me as an instrument to save this young woman, all honour and glory to Him.” Adding that ‘’after sailing a few metres, I heard a cry for help and looked at the girl who was drowning. I quickly approached her with the kite, tried to calm her down and asked her to climb on my back. She was very tired and without strength. I used the equipment to bring her to the sand safely, where the lifeguards carried out the first aid on the seashore and thank God everything went well.”
Towards the end of the video, the woman is seen hugging Lobo and then walking away with a group of people, including the first aid responders.
The remarkable post received more than 146,000 reactions and comments congratulating Mr Lobo on his selfless act.
“I am grateful for all the messages. I only did what had to be done and what was within my reach!” he stated. Urging people to stay safe, he added, “Be warned about the danger of the sea, rivers and any place you don’t know because the current in some places is usually very strong!”
