The White House yesterday issued a statement on the two telephone calls held between His Majesty King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and US Vice President Kamala Harris.
It stated that Vice President Harris expressed regret about not being able to travel to Bahrain because of the historic wildfires in Los Angeles.
She thanked both leaders for their partnership throughout the Biden-Harris administration in strengthening the US-Bahrain relationship and she reaffirmed the close and enduring bilateral relationship between the US and Bahrain.
The Vice President expressed pride in the 2023 signing of the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA), a key accomplishment of the Biden-Harris administration in the Middle East, which she and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister advanced in their March 2022 meeting.
She said C-SIPA enhances US-Bahrain co-operation on defence, trade, science and emerging technology.
The Vice President expressed support for strengthening C-SIPA, and noted the United Kingdom’s recent decision to join C-SIPA – demonstrating it can be a model for further regional integration.
She expressed her appreciation for the security partnership with Bahrain, and for hosting the US 5th Fleet and US Naval Forces Central Command, reaffirming the importance of the US working with its regional partners to support regional stability and maritime security.
During the calls, Vice President Harris discussed latest developments in the Middle East, and underscored she will continue working towards a future of peace, dignity and security for all people in the region, as well as a future with increased integration, connectivity and prosperity.
The Vice President also commended Bahrain’s leaders on the steps taken to promote interfaith tolerance in Bahrain.
