CUE SPORTS – BAHRAIN’S superstar cueist Habib Sabah will be defending his Masters title at the IBSF World Snooker Championships 2024, set to take place in Doha, Qatar from this Saturday to November 9.
The International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) confirmed Sabah’s participation in the event, which is set to feature nearly 60 competitors representing close to 30 countries from around the world.
The 41-year-old Bahraini is coming off a sensational performance in the recently concluded Arab Billiards and Snooker Championships 2024, which was held earlier this month in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
There, Sabah came away with four medals, highlighted by a gold in the men’s snooker singles. He also won two bronze medals in the men’s Masters singles and men’s six-red singles, and then claimed another bronze medal teamed up with Hesham Al Saqer in the men’s teams competition.
Other players in the upcoming Masters worlds are from Afghanistan, Australia, Belgium, Egypt, England, Finland, Germany, India, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Jordan, Kuwait, Mongolia, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Poland, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Syria, Thailand, Turkey, the UAE, the US, Wales, and Yemen.
In addition to his Masters title-defence, Sabah will also compete in stage two of the World Men’s Snooker Championship, according to the IBSF.
That event will consist of more than 30 players from over 20 countries.
Sabah won his Masters crown last year as part of a sensational double, as he also teamed up with Al Saqer to claim the teams’ title. They emerged triumphant after defeating the Belgian pair of Pascal Tollnier and Peter Poulin 4-3 in the final, which was also held in Doha.
