An Algerian man accused of practising witchcraft has sparked public outrage after it was revealed that he possessed 7,000 images of women taken without their consent.
During a raid on his home and compound, police discovered the images, which depicted women of all age groups in public areas and on public transport.
Court proceedings indicate that the photos were used for some form of 'witchcraft ritual'.
Practising witchcraft has recently been criminalised in Algeria, having previously been classified as a misdemeanour.
The prosecution is seeking the maximum sentence of seven years for the suspect.
