A top official has highlighted Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening US co-operation and international partnerships, as well as promoting peace, religious freedom and global coexistence for a secure future.
This came as King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence (KHGC) board of trustees chairman Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa yesterday met US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) chairman Dr Stephen Schneck.
Dr Shaikh Abdulla pointed out His Majesty King Hamad’s vision, supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, of promoting respect for religious and cultural diversity.
He acknowledged the establishment of the King Hamad Award for Peaceful Coexistence and the King’s call for an international agreement to criminalise religious, sectarian and racial hate speech.
He emphasised the centre’s ongoing efforts to empower youth and promote community awareness of noble human values through academic and training programmes.
Dr Schneck commended the kingdom’s efforts and KHGC’s initiatives in spreading the culture of peace and respect at local, regional and international levels. He wished the kingdom and its people continued progress and prosperity.
