TRAINING – In a proactive initiative aimed at fostering the physical health and overall development of children, the Olympic Academy of the Bahrain Olympic Committee organised a comprehensive physical literacy programme for youngsters in the foundational stage.
The event, which is taking place at Isa Town Primary and Preparatory School for Boys until tomorrow, saw active participation from a group of children associated with the Barbar Club.
Tailored for the 7-9 age group, the programme focused on refining fundamental motor skills crucial for a child’s physical development. Specific exercises designed for this age group were employed, encompassing activities such as one-foot balance exercises, straight-line walking, running drills involving rapid direction changes, and jumping and landing exercises to bolster flexibility and physical strength.
The curriculum extended to throwing and catching ball exercises, promoting hand-eye co-ordination, as well as crawling and climbing activities to nurture strength and flexibility. Additionally, children were engaged in group games to encourage co-operation and teamwork.
