Rapid digital and technological transformations in the world require auditing methods to be updated regularly, National Audit Office (NAO) auditor general Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has said.
He was taking part in a meeting of the heads of the GCC Supreme Audit Institutions in Muscat, held under the chairmanship of Omani State Audit Institution chairman Shaikh Ghosn Hilal Al Alawi.
Shaikh Ahmed also sounded the alert on emerging threats while dealing with big data, risks, information systems and cybersecurity.
“Although technology depends on machines, programming and artificial intelligence (AI), the human element remains the basis for progress, which means that training, upgrading capabilities and improving competencies are very important,” he said.
