Electricity and Water Authority president Kamal Ahmed, Works Minister Ibrahim Al Hawaj, Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Yasser Humaidan and Housing and Urban Planning Minister Amna Al Romaihi yesterday visited the East Sitra housing project, where they inspected the progress in the construction work and the infrastructure services provided there.
They were informed about the progress of the housing units of the first and second phases, and followed up on plans to link the project to the main road network, as well as build sewage, electricity and water networks.
Mr Ahmed said that 80 per cent of the electricity and water works for the first phase of the project had been completed. He noted the BD23 million network will be completed as soon as construction works have been finalised.
Mr Hawaj said the Works Ministry will establish the necessary exits to the project, linking it to the main road networks.
Ms Al Romaihi said that the implementation of first phase of the project, including 1,077 units, is 90pc complete.
She instructed the ministry’s team to accelerate the pace of work to ensure that the units of the first phase are handed over according to schedule.
