Bahrain Paralympic Committee president Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa attended the opening ceremony of the XVI Special Olympics World Summer Games in Berlin at the Olympic Stadium in the German capital.
This is the largest inclusive sporting event in the world, with 7,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities competing in 26 Olympic sports from 170 countries around the world. Bahrain is participating with 15 men and women in 6 games – athletics, bocce, equestrian, bowling and two unified sports: badminton and sailing.
