A 51-year-old father of four staged a three-hour sit-in protest at his local Mcdonald's after his Uber Eats delivery was missing fries and drinks in the UK.
David Shepherd reportedly ordered food worth £80(BD37.5) from McDonald's for his family. The food arrived but was missing the fries and drinks he ordered. According to Shepherd, the order was missing around £21(BD9.8) of food.
After contacting Uber Eats, Shepherd was informed they would only refund some items from the £21 worth of missing food.
Shepherd said, "The policy is you need to get in touch with Uber who will refund you the missing items. But the thing is, it’s not Uber who packed the bags, it’s McDonald’s."
He later drove to the McDonald's in Chesterfield, Kent to ask them to replace the missing items. But he was told that it was against company policy to do so.
It was at this moment that Mr Shepherd decided to stage a sit-in protest on the counter of the drive-through McDonald's until he got the food he was owed.
Although the employees at McDonald's attempted to contact the police regarding the disturbance, the police told them that there was nothing they could do as it was a civil matter and not a police one.
Shepherd staged the protest for around two hours inside the McDonald's before creating a blockade in the drive-through lane for an hour.
At this point, the police were once again called and they managed to appease Mr Shepherd and were able to arrive at a settlement.
