THE Bahrain Festive Season – which will include a wide range of activities, events and festivities across the kingdom – will be launched at the beginning of next month.
The campaign, which will continue until January 2023, will also feature National Day and New Year celebrations, and will be the ‘largest’ event yet on the island.
The upcoming holiday calendar was revealed by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) chief executive Dr Nasser Qaedi at an inauguration event in Bahrain Bay.
Recreational, cultural, sports and artistic events will be held in all the governorates.
Dr Qaedi said that the season will include the organisation of the annual ‘Bahrain Festival City’ in Sakhir in its largest version ever. It will feature 45 live performances, a 500 sqm outdoor skating rink and the biggest-ever fireworks display.
Other events include dhow music and lights show which will be held in coastal areas including Bilaj Al Jazayer beach, Bahrain Bay and Arad Fort.
In addition, there will be fireworks during the National Day and New Year celebrations.
In addition to performances by international, local and traditional bands, a drone show and a food festival featuring more than 30 vendors are also on the list.
The season will end with the Autumn Fair 2023 at the new Exhibition World Bahrain in Sakhir.
“Not only will it be Bahrain’s biggest celebration to date in terms of number of events, it will also be the largest in size,” Dr Qaedi told the GDN.
“This comprehensive programme will be held under the umbrella of both the public and private sectors,” he added.
He urged organisers to register their events on Bahrain’s events website, calendar.bh.
This year’s festive season theme is ‘Balad al-Kiram’, or ‘land of nobles’, a phrase which appears in the lyrics of Bahrain’s national anthem ‘Bahrainona’.
“The festive season is targeted at Gulf and Middle East audiences, and will focus on the National Day holiday,” Dr Qaedi explained the choice of the theme.
“It is meant to celebrate the identity of Bahrain.”
He added that special promotional offers and travel and accommodation packages will incentivise travellers to come to Bahrain and will further revitalise the tourism sector.
The Bahrain’s tourism app can be downloaded to get details of the season’s schedule.
