Kuwait's Education Ministry has declared October 24 a holiday due to the partial solar eclipse visible in the Middle East.
In a statement released on Monday, it was said that the decision was made in order to ensure the safety of the students in light of the partial solar eclipse set to occur in Kuwait at 1.20pm on Tuesday.
A partial solar eclipse is a rare event that occurs when the moon comes between the sun and the earth.
Viewing a solar eclipse without protective eyeglasses may cause permanent eye damage and KUNA reported that the holiday only applies to students.
