Scammers come in all sizes and ages as a woman in New York recently learnt after two 10-year-olds scammed her out of $1,000.
Laura Grasso was walking through New York's famed Central Park last month when she was approached by two "angel-faced" children, who told her that they were lost and asked if they could borrow her phone to call their mother.
Instead of calling home however, they used the Venmo app on her phone to send $1,000 to a business account under the name "Black Lives Matter."
After 'venmoing' themselves $1,000, the middle school con-artists promptly left.
Ms Grasso then received an email notifying her of the transaction, but it was too late to do anything about it.
She reported the crime at the police station, where she was informed that they had received two other reports of a pair of minors conning their way into Venmo accounts.
Venmo eventually cancelled the transaction and returned the money to Ms Grasso a few days later.
The account did not appear to be affiliated with the Black Lives Matter organisation.
