THE Applied Science University (ASU) has become the only educational institution in Bahrain to obtain the prestigious global accreditation from the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) in the UK.
The certification from the independent British body is valid for five years, subject to a mid-cycle review to ensure that the university is on par with international best practices.
As one of just 11 universities globally and the only one nationally to obtain this accreditation, the endorsement means that ASU satisfied the 10 European Standards and Guidelines (ESG).
These standards involve the learning journey of students, standards of assessment, accessibility of resources, support afforded to students, IT systems and internal and external monitoring policies.
The review was performed by a team of three independent auditors who conducted a comprehensive review of the university’s educational process.
“This is the result of a team effort of all the university’s staff, students, alumni and external collaborators,” said university president Dr Ghassan Aouad.
