Bahrain is gearing up to host the third West Asian Para Games next month with preparations in full swing to ensure its success.
The prestigious games, which are planned for February 18 to 27, will include seven different para sports for both males and females.
Details were announced yesterday during a press conference held at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel organised by the Bahrain Paralympic Committee in collaboration with the West Asia Para Federation.
“Bahrain’s ability to host such prominent games falls in line with the objectives of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport as well as the General Sports Authority,” said Bahrain Paralympic Committee President and Supreme Organising Commitee Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa on the occasion.
“We are contributing to the overall tourism of the country, specifically sports tourism, as well as supporting the 2022 to 2026 tourism strategy.
“Hosting the games holds many benefits such as strengthening the country’s position as an ideal destination for sporting events as well as reaffirming the kingdom’s keenness and readiness to organise games.
“Among the objectives that we will be focusing on is educating the community on the importance of inclusivity and how we encourage people with impairments to be part of our society as well as the importance of sports in our lives.”
West Asia Para Federation president Dr Abdulrazzaq Bani Rashid expressed his confidence in Bahrain’s ability to host the event.
All services and facilities have been equipped accordingly for easy access for all Para athletes and their teams as well as individuals with disabilities.
The games will be held across four different locations.
