SHOWJUMPING – THE Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa International Showjumping Championship kicked off yesterday at the Military Sports Association’s field in Al Raffa under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The event is organised by the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (Breef).
The veterinary inspection of the participating horses was conducted yesterday under the supervision of the organising committee, led by championship director Abdulaziz Mayoof Al Rumaihi.
Three competitions were held on the opening day yesterday – the Small Class, a two-phase competition with fences at a height of 115cm, the Medium Class, another two-phase competition with fences at a height of 120cm, and the Grand Class, a single round with a jump-off for riders tied for first place, featuring fences at a height of 130cm.
Two local competitions will be held today, starting with the Children’s Class (100cm) at 8am, followed by the Open Class (110cm) at 9am.
Three competitions will take place on the final day tomorrow, beginning with the Small Class (120cm). This will be followed by the Medium Class (130cm) and the final Grand Class, which comprises two different rounds for the Shaikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup, featuring fences at a height of 145cm and awarding Longines world ranking points.
The organising committee has invited the public to attend the events. The attendees will have the opportunity to enter a prize draw, including a car and several other rewards.
