All the necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of road users and facilitate smooth traffic movement during the National Day holidays, affirmed a top official yesterday.
Traffic Directorate director-general Brigadier Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa said the presence of traffic police on the main streets and roads leading to the celebration sites will be intensified.
Fixed, mobile and foot traffic patrols will be deployed in co-operation and co-ordination with the relevant departments of the Interior Ministry in all the governorates to ensure smooth traffic flow, he added.
The official congratulated all citizens and residents on the occasion of the National Day and the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty King Hamad’s accession to the throne, noting the need to adhere to traffic regulations and rules and not to engage in wrong behaviours that would expose road users to danger.
He also urged pedestrians to adhere to the areas designated for crossing to ensure their safety, and for vehicle users to take into account residents of neighbourhoods and not to disturb them.
He called on parents to understand the importance of preserving the safety of their children while they are moving around in vehicles, and the need for them to sit properly, as well as taking precautions while crossing the road.
Brig Shaikh Abdulrahman said that the co-operation of the public and road users with the Traffic Directorate by following all instructions issued by traffic officers and following traffic guidelines on social media will reflect community partnership and contribute to enhancing traffic safety through the combined efforts of all.
