Egyptian pop star Amr Diab has been referred to the misdemeanour court by the New Cairo prosecution following an incident last June. During a private concert at a wedding, Diab slapped a young fan.
The fan approached Diab to take a picture but was slapped across the face and publicly reprimanded, prompting formal legal action.
Amr Diab's legal team initially tried to file a complaint against the fan for harassment. "The individual approached the artist from behind, forcefully raising a mobile phone to take a photo without permission," Amr Diab's lawyer stated.
