Bahraini jockey Ebrahim Nader will be making sporting history in the kingdom on Friday when he becomes the first-ever local rider to compete in the prestigious Bahrain International Trophy.
Nader will be getting in the saddle on five-year-old contender Goemon for the US$1million Group Two event, taking place at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club in Sakhir.
Owned by Mohammed Khalid Abdulrahim and trained by Haider Ebrahim, Goemon is one of 12 world-class horses set to run in this year's Bahrain International Trophy, which will be held for the first time at night under lights.
“This is a very important opportunity for me and I am very excited for it,” Nader told the GDN.
