Geneva: Idris Abdul Rahman Al Khanjari, Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations and International Organisations in Geneva, met with Ismail Ersahin, CEO and Executive Director of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA).
The meeting was organised by the Permanent Mission of the Sultanate of Oman in Geneva. The two parties discussed ways to enhance cooperation aimed at promoting investment in Oman and maximising the use of the Association's services and partnerships, as reported by the Oman News Agency (ONA).
They also explored the possibility of Oman hosting the 2025 World Investment Conference.
Al Khanjari noted that Oman's accession to WAIPA is a significant milestone. He referred to the efforts made in this regard, particularly the modernisation of the foreign investment system. He added that the primary aim of joining the Association and the economic organisations in Geneva is to open the Omani market to international markets.
He emphasised that the Sultanate of Oman possesses a distinctive investment framework, including its strategic location and proximity to key global markets, as well as world-class infrastructure, such as ports, free economic zones, and industrial zones, making it an attractive destination for investment.
Ersahin highlighted the main objective of the Association, which is to strengthen the capacities of its members to ensure they attract quality investments to their countries and to foster communication between different investment promotion agencies through the exchange of views and best practices from both governmental and private sectors.
