Egyptian Prosecution has announced the arrest of a 36-year-old man suspected of being a serial killer who has murdered at least three women.
The man, who local media has dubbed as the 'New Cairo Slaughterer', is reportedly an English teacher who recently relocated to Cairo from the US after his divorce.
The police said that the man, identified only as 'Karim', had confessed to the murders of three women.
According to the Prosecution, it all started when they were alerted about a body found by a roadside on June 30. They immediately launched an investigation and identified the victim. Through her, they were able to zero in on the suspect.
The suspect had reportedly befriended the woman before inviting her to his home, he then drugged and killed her. He disposed of her body using his car. The police were able to track the suspect's car using CCTV footage and his mobile phone location.
The prosecution also suspected that two other bodies found on the same road, one on April 30 this year and the other from 2023, were linked to the suspect.
They collected further evidence, which reportedly corroborated their suspicions of the man being involved in the other murders.
According to reports, once the man was confronted with the evidence, he confessed to the two killings.
Unconfirmed reports in the media claim that the number of victims may exceed three.
