Bahrain: The Premier yesterday warned of challenges and threats to security of the Gulf region.
“All GCC countries stand in the same trench in confronting dangers, particularly the scourge of terrorism,” he said, stressing the need to maintain regional security and stability. Receiving senior members of the Ruling Family and state officials, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa called for mustering all efforts to stave off threats. He commended the Saudi-led coalition which, he said, represents a model of Gulf and Arab co-operation to thwart foreign designs and conspiracies targeting pan-Arab security. “The world is going through a period of political and economic instability. More awareness is required to protect national security and stability,” he said. The Premier underlined the importance of protecting the social fabric and turning challenges into opportunities. “Despite current economic challenges, we are continuing the march of development,” he said, stressing particularly achievements in housing, health, education and infrastructure, which are the cornerstone of citizens’ wellbeing.
