Bahrain: Bahrain's national carrier has denied reports that British police stormed one of its planes in Heathrow to arrest a suspected terrorist.
However, Gulf Air confirmed authorities questioned one passenger after disembarking the aircraft on January 19.
“Gulf Air can confirm that upon arriving into London Heathrow on January 19 passengers onboard flight GF007 disembarked the aircraft following standard disembarking procedures in order to proceed to the terminal building,” it said in a statement.
“At the aircraft bridge leading to the terminal building, London police authorities questioned one passenger.
“The airline would like to clarify that the authorities did not board the aircraft, but were positioned at the aircraft bridge in order to question the passenger – as stated earlier.
“Such security procedures and practices are entirely in the jurisdiction of the destination country’s official police system/authority, and such events are standard occurrences for all airlines and airports around the world.
“The safety, protection and comfort of our passengers and employees are of utmost importance and Gulf Air crew handle such matters with a high level of professionalism.
“The airline cannot comment further on such matters,” it added.
