Abu Dhabi: A mouthwash went off the shelves in the United Arab Emirates for containing harmful impurities.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention issued a circular announcing the withdrawal of Zordyl Mouthwash, which is produced by Gulf Pharmaceutical Industries (Julphar), reported Al Bayan.
The circular was sent to the directors of medical districts, government and private hospitals, doctors, pharmacists and assistant pharmacists.
The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) had also withdrawn the mouthwash from the market, based on lab tests which revealed that it contained impurities which are both harmful and contaminated with bacteria.
