Dubai: The Civil Defence crews have managed to douse the fire in the 32-storey commercial tower in Dubai’s Bay area.
The firefighters received heroes’ welcome after they came out of the building and announced that the building was safe to return.
According to an eyewitness, the blaze appeared to have spread to several floors of Regal Tower.
The tower was evacuated immediately and people were asked to assemble in the sand lot near the building while Civil Defence crews were busy controlling the fire.
There seem to be different versions about the possible cause of fire in the tower. A building management representative believes the fire may have started in the balcony of an office on the 26th floor. The Civil Defence team however refuse to believe this statement. A Civil Defence official said that the cause of the fire will be known after the investigations are complete.
Owned by Dubai-based developer Tameer, the tower features offices, car parking, and a range of retailers, a cafeteria, and a gymnasium.
