Jeddah – A huge fire broke out late last night in a major shopping mall in the city of Jeddah.
Columns of black smoke and flames were seen billowing from the Hamada bakery and supermarket, which are located in Al-Andalus neighbourhood in Western Jeddah.
Nineteen civil defence firefighting units battled for hours before containing the blaze before it could spread to neighbouring areas. The civil defence units rescued the employees were trapped inside the centre due to the fire and billowing smoke.
According to latest developments, the fire gutted all the shopping mall, which covers 9000 square metres. One person is reported missing.
Scenes of the devastating blaze, which first started at 4 pm yesterday, went live on Snapchat application.
