The Kuwaiti authorities have dismantled secret drug network inside the central prison.
A special force squad raided the 7th section of the new prison building 2 and confiscated 1056 mobile phones.
Accompanied by canine sniffer dogs, the police force also seized a number of drugs and drones which were hidden, along with the cellphones inside a deep hole.
Security sources from the Ministry of Interior value the items which were seized during the prison police raid at KD1.5 million.
The security authorities gave the green light for a special police force to raid the central prison after weeks of investigation.
The investigation revealed that a gang traded in drugs inside the prison and sells mobile phones to inmates for the price of KD1500 each.
Deputy Interior Minister Shaikh Khalid Al-Jarrah ordered an immediate inquired to unveil all those involved in smuggling prohibited items in the prison and discover security loopholes.
