A man was arrested in Texas after police officers found him and a passenger stranded in a lake after driving into the water in a Tesla Cybertruck to test its 'wade mode'.
When questioned by officers, the driver admitted he had intentionally entered the lake to try out the vehicle's specialised setting. The 'wade mode' feature on the Cybertruck is designed to help the vehicle navigate shallow bodies of water, such as flooded roads or creeks, by pressurising the battery pack.
Officers assisted the driver and his passenger safely out of the vehicle before a fire department rescue team extracted the Cybertruck from the water.
The driver was charged with operating a vehicle in a closed section of a park, lacking a valid boat registration, and committing numerous water safety equipment violations.
