Kuwait announced the reopening of its airspace at Kuwait International Airport and the gradual resumption of flight operations, following a “temporary and precautionary” suspension of air traffic since February 28 due to regional developments.
President of Civil Aviation of Kuwait Sheikh Humoud Mubarak Al-Sabah stated, according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that technical teams have begun maintenance and repair work on facilities and operational equipment damaged as a result of Iranian attacks and affiliated factions, affirming the airport’s readiness to resume operations.
He added that operations are being restored in coordination with international authorities to ensure compliance with the highest safety and security standards, as part of a phased plan for the gradual resumption of air traffic.
Al-Sabah expressed his appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its support and cooperation in operating Kuwaiti carriers through its airports during the suspension period. He also praised the support of Gulf Cooperation Council countries and joint coordination on unified airspace, commending the role of the political leadership in overcoming the impact of the crisis and expediting the airport’s reopening efficiently.
