At least 13 people have been killed and over 40 injured in an explosion at a fireworks preparation facility in Thrissur, Kerala.
The explosion occurred at the manufacturing and storage site for Kerala’s famous Thrissur Pooram festival. Thirteen people remain under medical treatment, with 10 in intensive care units and two placed on ventilator support.
Following the incident, talks are underway to conduct this year’s festival without fireworks. Several state and central government bodies are expected to meet with temple officials to make a final decision.
