A man in the US started running after a police officer joked to him about having a “narcotics-smelling horse,” leading to a chase and an arrest.
Texas officers on horseback were running a routine patrol when they noticed a man walking on the road instead of the sidewalk. When he started acting suspicious, this prompted them to briefly question him.
One officer, in an effort to break the tension, joked about having a “narcotics-smelling” horse, which caused the man to immediately run into an alley.
Officers quickly caught up to him and arrested him, charging him with evading arrest and tampering with physical evidence with the intent to impair.
One officer later recollected the events, calling him silly for trying to outrun a horse.
