Benedikt Schwerm won the Korean Cup stableford competition at Awali Golf Club, obliterating the field with an outstanding performance.
Since 2013, the Korean community within the club have sponsored the competition.
Schwerm had a great start to his round, making four pars in a row followed by eight bogeys in a row. Playing off a 22 handicap, that meant collecting points by the dozen.
He wasn’t bothered by the wind, which was making things difficult for most players, but finished with double bogeys on the last two holes.
Mohamed Sultan Faraj came second with 39 points (gross 73), which earned him the win in division one.
Division two was won by Awali Golf Club captain Steve Newall, who had 36 points. Debbie Beedie won division three scoring 37 points.
Following play, prizes were handed out to the winners by Newall in the presence of tournament director Rashed Al Qutami and Dong Jin Jeong, representing the club’s Korean members.
The next event at Awali Golf Club is a Veedol-sponsored competition on Friday.
