CRICKET – NATIONAL Guards triumphed over BCF Rising Stars-Crown Industries by six wickets in their Division A T20 quarter-final clash of the 2024-25 Khalid bin Hamad Cricket League.
The Rising Stars opted to bat first after winning the toss. Despite solid starts from Nouman Yousaf (17) and Muhammad Saddam (13), they struggled to build partnerships.
Key wickets fell at regular intervals, with Imran Aslam (19) and Hamza Noor Zada (25) adding some resistance. However, the team was bowled out for a modest total of 109 runs in 19.4 overs.
Muhammad Asif Iqbal (3/11) and Ahmed Hassan (2/14) were the standout bowlers for National Guards, restricting the opposition’s progress.
In reply, National Guards chased down the target with ease, finishing at 110/4 in 11.3 overs.
Safdar Abbas Ghulam (36) and Asif Javed Bashir (28) laid the foundation with blistering knocks. Although the Rising Stars picked up a few wickets, the chase was wrapped up comfortably by Shahid Ul Razzaq (14) and Iqbal (16), ensuring the six-wicket win for National Guards.
Iqbal was named Player of the Match for his exceptional bowling performance for the winners, taking three wickets for just 11 runs and a good day on the field with one catch and one run out.
