For the first time in almost twenty years, Walmart has unveiled a new logo, which it describes as a "comprehensive brand refresh that reflects its evolution."
The new change stunned shoppers as they barely saw any differences between the old and new logos!
According to the company, however, a significant feature of the "refresh" embraces a wordmark that is "inspired by [founder] Sam Walton’s classic trucker hat," but with a modernised custom font. The complementary colours used are True Blue and Spark Yellow to "keep the brand fresh."
Many people have criticised the new veiling, with one person sarcastically commenting, "I hope people will still be able to recognise that’s Walmart.” Another shopper wrote on X, “Walmart just unveiled their new logo. It looks the same,” while another added, "I guess they said they spent $2.1 million to change the shade of blue."
Others, however, thought it was a brilliant move.
"Everyone is talking about it, and they won’t need to spend millions to change physical branding because the old logo looks like the sun-damaged version of the new one." A person backing the move and wrote, "Genius."
Walmart’s brand refresh will launch in January across all platforms and channels. Some stores have already started to change their looks, while the "remaining stores will continue to be redesigned over time."
