Muscat - Deliberations of the first edition of Oman Endowment Conference kicked off today under the theme “Innovation and Sustainability”. The conference’s opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Sultan Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance.
The conference addresses four main topics that review innovation in endowment investments by presenting new investment strategies that ensure sustainability and long-term returns. It also explores investment opportunities in emerging sectors that are compatible with the provisions of Islamic Sharia, as well as innovation in endowment techniques by reviewing successful models and innovative strategies to expand and diversify endowment resources, in addition to reviewing the best global practices in endowment management and development.
The conference also reviews local, regional and international experiences in innovation and endowment sustainability, by presenting successful local and regional experiences in developing and diversifying endowment resources through innovation, studying examples of global practices in managing and developing endowments to achieve sustainability. It also reviews initiatives that employ technology to streamline endowment operations and increase efficiency, in addition to presenting an innovative and sustainable vision for the relationship between endowments and charitable work by enhancing integration between endowments and charitable works such as zakat and charity, and presenting a modern concept of endowments that highlights the importance of profitable endowment foundations to maximize endowment returns and social returns on investment.
Three specialized workshops organized during the conference to empower workers in the endowment sector and provide them with the knowledge and skills they need to manage and develop this sector. The workshops covered the topics of “governance, performance, risk management and compliance,” “contemporary endowment investment,” and “the social impact of investment.”
