Al Najma climbed to third on the table in the 2024-25 Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier League last night following a 2-1 victory over Bahrain Club.
Mohamed Salah Matar and Khalil Binshihab Kassab were on target for the victors on either side of a Yahiya Ahmed Mohamed equaliser for Bahrain Club.
Kassab’s winner came in the 51st minute after the first half ended deadlocked at 1-1.
With the result, Najma improved to 13 points with their fourth win in seven tries as they are now just a single point behind solo leaders Muharraq and Sitra on the standings. Bahrain Club suffered their third loss and stayed on 10 markers.
In last night’s other game, former leaders Sitra dropped points for the second successive match after being held 2-2 by Al Shabab.
Yaya Al Hadj Ousman scored both of Sitra’s goals, while Rafael Vicente Ferreira Santos and Nizar El Otmani netted for Shabab.
Sitra went to 13 points to go to second place, tied on with Najma but holding a superior goal difference. Shabab improved to eight points.
Week seven of league action continues tonight with Muharraq facing Manama and Al Ahli taking on A’ali, both at 7pm.
