A family in Egypt managed to find their long-lost son 14 years after he disappeared as a child.
Ahmed Faris was a child playing in the streets of eastern Cairo in 2011 when he got on the back of a moving truck and disappeared. He has moved on since then, from orphanage to orphanage over 14 years.
Ahmed's family never stopped looking for him. His father travelled from Cairo to Suez to look for him in a big orphanage, plastering his pictures all over Egypt, never losing hope in the process until one day, coincidentally, he ran into a man who runs a Facebook page for missing children.
The man recognised the man in the picture as a man who had recently left the orphanage to seek work.
Ahmed was then in Libya looking for a job when his family contacted him at the last orphanage he was in and tracked his steps until they eventually found him.
The Facebook page used facial recognition technology to match the features and confirm his Identity, eventually leading to a touching reunion.
