Bahrain champions Manama take on Ittihad Club of Saudi Arabia tonight in the FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL).
The Group B clash in the WASL’s Gulf sub-zone will be held at Green Basketball Court in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and it is scheduled to tip off at 6pm, Bahrain time. Manama head into the contest having lost both their previous fixtures in the competition’s ongoing preliminary round.
They first suffered an 84-90 defeat to Al Qadisiya SC of Kuwait in Kuwait City and then narrowly bowed to Al Arabi of Qatar 84-85 at home. Manama are one of two Bahraini clubs competing in this year’s WASL Gulf sub-zone. Ahli are the other, competing in Group A. Ahli have one victory so far from three games.
The top seeds at the conclusion of the double round-robin group stage will earn outright berths to the best-of-three semi-finals.
The second and third-ranked teams will have to go through the cross-over play-offs for berths in the last four, which will also be held in best-of-three format. The top three teams from both the Gulf and the WASL’s West Asia sub-zone will qualify for the WASL Final Eight, where they will be joined by the champions of South and Central Asia. Manama were the champions of the inaugural FIBA WASL season in 2022-23.
