CRICKET – MIGHTIEZ CC, sponsored by stc pay, were crowned champions of Division D in the Bahrain Cricket Federation (BCF) KHK League.
Mightiez secured the title following a nail-biting final, where they overcame a tough challenge from Bahrain Hawks and thus showcased their exceptional skill and unwavering determination.
Winning the toss, Mightiez elected to field first – a strategic move that would prove pivotal in the outcome of the match.
The Hawks had a promising start to their innings, putting on a 50-run partnership in the first six overs. However, Mightiez’s bowlers, led by Muhammad Shahid Mughal and Muhammad Usman Awan, turned the tide, dismantling the Hawks’ batting lineup for a total of 126 runs in 19.2 overs.
The fielding unit also played a crucial role, contributing six catches and a run-out to the team’s efforts.
Mughal, in particular, was instrumental in the Hawks’ downfall, claiming four wickets for a miserly 22 runs. Awan provided valuable support, taking three wickets for 30 runs.
In response to the modest target, Mightiez’s batsmen displayed composure and resilience. Ali Abid’s steady 36-run knock and Muhammad Hassan Butt’s valuable 27-run contribution guided the team to a comfortable victory.
Captain Mustafeez Aslam expressed his delight with the team’s performance. “Our bowlers and fielders were outstanding today, turning the game in our favour,” he said. “The batsmen complemented this with a solid chase.
“This victory is a testament to our collective effort and determination.”
BCF high performance director P K Shukla added, “The KHK league is setting a new benchmark every year with more competitive and quality cricket.”
This hard-fought victory is a significant achievement for Mightiez, highlighting their resilience and teamwork throughout the season. The team’s success is a testament to the growing popularity of cricket in Bahrain and the dedication of its players.
