Qantas Airlines apologised after a flight bound from Sydney to Tokyo played an explicit R-rated film on all screens.
The airline suffered technical issues with in-flight entertainment and hence asked passengers to choose a film from a small list of movies.
The selected one though was 'Daddio', an R-rated film from 2023 featuring profanity, brief graphic nudity and sexually explicit material. It resulted in a rather awkward and uncomfortable situation where children on the flight could only see that film on the screen.
"It was impossible to pause, dim, or turn it off," one passenger remarked.
According to reports, it took almost an hour for the airline to halt the screening and switch to a more child-friendly film.
“The movie was clearly not suitable to play for the whole flight and we sincerely apologise to customers for this experience," Qantas said in a statement.
“All screens were changed to a family-friendly movie for the rest of the flight, which is our standard practice for the rare cases where individual movie selection isn’t possible.
“We are reviewing how the movie was selected.”
