Riyadh - The first Saudi women’s publishing house specializing in publishing services, the Madhamin Publishing and Distribution House, has participated in the Riyadh International Book Fair 2024, held this year under the slogan "Riyadh Reads."
The unique cultural experience for Saudi women allowed emerging writers to publish their books and showcase them at the cultural exhibition.
Regarding the establishment and launch of the publishing house, founder Ebtisam Al-Tuwaijri told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the story began during her participation in the international publishing training initiative, held in London in 2023.
Within three days, her career path shifted from law to publishing.
“The initiative allowed me to immerse myself in the world of publishing and the visions of publishers, and things unfolded without planning. On the third day of the initiative, I completed the commercial registration procedures for Madhamin Publishing and Distribution House,” Al-Tuwaijri said.
She also noted that she later participated in the "Publishing Business Accelerator" initiative of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission and won the award, which further boosted the launch of the publishing house.
Moreover, she expressed her gratitude to the commission for helping her enter the literary world, noting its important role in facilitating the procedures for publishing and translation houses, as well as its engagement with women's expertise.
She highlighted that the publishing house received the "Publishing Business Accelerator" award, supported and empowered by the commission, which enabled her to participate as a literary agent in the first book production support initiative.
The Madhamin house is participating in the Riyadh International Book Fair with ten publications and has obtained translation rights for several books in various languages. This includes two series, one consisting of seven volumes and the other of four, as well as philosophical works in Russian and critical writings and novels from multiple languages.
